Prague Orloj [Zooomr]

Prague OrlojPrague Orloj Hosted on Zooomr

Zooomr Portals are now up. It looks like Kristopher had a long night. Click through to see a portalized Prague Orloj, the astronomical clock in Prague, Czech Republic.

Update: After clicking through, mouse over the image to see the Portals!

Update 2: Bummer. It looks like the Portals don't work correctly for some Internet Explorer users. Try using Firefox for maximum coolness.

I, Robert Robus, opine that that is a magniloquentitious clock and edifice.

I was in Prague last summer and saw this clock too. Unfortunately, it was under construction so you had to crane your neck to have a look at it from under the construction materials. Lucky you!

Everytime I look at Prague Orloj, I think about those fantastic ancestors we have, who bulit something most people wouldn't be able to build nowadays, and I understand that evolution is far from being a straight line... Thanks so much for the beautiful photograph and link!

Beautiful photo!! :)

And, hey, ya learn something new everyday, huh? I sooo thought that the Rathaus-Glockenspiel in Munich was the only one of its kind when I saw it for the first time several years ago.

But, I guess it turns out that it's the most well-known glockenspeil, not the only one. The glock in this photo, the Prague Orloj, counts too.

Who woulda thunk it?

Thanks, Nabeel. It is a clock; an astrological clock. Check out Wikipedia's entry here. To be honest with you, I sat and stared at it for about 20 minutes and couldn't figure it out in the least. That's probably why they mounted a proper clock at the top of the tower (seen here).

Is the Orloj a glock, Stolie? I'm not sure. It doesn't play music, but does put on a show every hour. The only thing heard is the bell at the top of the clocktower ("rang" by the skeleton to the right of the upper dial).
